The Cairo Regional Centre for International Commercial Arbitration (CRCICA) is pleased to announce holding the World's Sole Biennial International Conference on "The Role of State Courts in International Arbitration - SHARM EL SHEIKH VII" on 9-10 December 2018 at Savoy Hotel, Sharm El Sheikh, Egypt.
SHARM EL SHEIKH 2018 is the seventh in a series of renowned events which, quoting Mr. Renaud Sorieul, Former Secretary, UNCITRAL "has become quite a landmark in the field of arbitration". SHARM EL SHEIKH series has been held biennially since 2005 in cooperation with the United Nations Commission on International Trade Law (UNCITRAL), the International Federation of Commercial Arbitration Institutions (IFCAI) and the Arab Union for International Arbitration (AUIA).
This year's agenda is designed to identify the salient judicial trends in the region and to shed light on the latest judicial practices in the most significant seats of arbitration worldwide. Through six working sessions, the program presents a unique blend of topics including salient legislative and case law developments affecting the role of state courts in international arbitration, the enforcement of interim and emergency arbitral measures, the role of state courts in ongoing and post-arbitral proceedings and the role of state and regional courts in investment arbitration.
The fifth session is devoted to the celebration of the 60th Anniversary of the New York Convention, this slot of the agenda will probe deep into the most important aspects of the enforcement of foreign arbitral awards under the Convention worldwide. The last session will focus on one of the top issues of international arbitration nowadays; the setting aside of enforcement on the grounds of sovereign immunity.
The geographical profile of SHARM EL SHEIKH VII promises to be unprecedentedly diverse with 42 speakers from 22 countries and 19 sponsors/supporters from 8 ones.
